Abraham Aasan was born in Karungal, Kanniyakumari district in Tamilnadu. Born in Kanyakumari, Varma medicine and Varma kalai is taught as a basic knowledge those days. Kanyakumari is the border of Kerala now, before 1956, it was a part Kerala so Varma medicine was practiced in many parts of Kerala and Kanyakumari. Most of the occupation those days was climbing Palm trees. Sometimes people may fall from the trees and may have Varma injury. So Varma is a basic knowledge which most of the people there knew it. Aasan's grandfather and father were great Varmani's, just by seeing the patients walking style from a distance they were able to identify what were the issues the person has and what for they are coming. They had wide knowledge regarding Varma and various medicines. After the invasion of modern medicine Varma medicine lost its importance and people who practiced indian forms of medicine suffered poverty....
